"Sky Saw" and Enuma Elish's "Leviathan"
lit up the charts of college radio stations throughout North
America thanks to the incredible work of Triage
International. Thanks in particular to the good people
at CJAM 91.5
FM for making "Leviathan" their number one jazz
record back in August!
Enuma Elish will be making a triumphant
return to the Boston area this fall when they perform their
first live soundtrack to the 1973 animated classic "Fantastic
Planet" at the Coolidge
Corner Theater on December 10. Joining them for this performance
will be synthesizer legend Robin Amos of
Cul de
Sac.
Lithiq is proud to present the latest addition to its roster,
SpiralZero. SpiralZero
features the talents of Philip
Lampe on sitar and touch guitar synth, Robert Manzke on
laptop and percussion, and Yuri Zbitnoff on drums. Check out
the SpiralZero's page for
further information. SpiralZero will be
making their debut performance at the Zeitgeist
Gallery on Friday November 4th at 10pm.
Yuri Zbitnoff just seems to keep piling on the projects.
In addition to his work with Enuma Elish, Sky Saw, and SpiralZero, Yuri has joined the esteemed lineup of psych rock/folk/blues/improv
veterans in Cul
de Sac. In their 13+ years of existence Cul de
Sac have recorded nine albums, toured Europe on several
occasions, collaborated with blues legend John
Fahey, and backed up legendary Can vocalist Damo
Suzuki. Their past four releases on Strange
Attractors, "Death
of the Sun", "The
Strangler’s Wife", "Immortality
Lessons", and "Abhayamudra"
were received to great acclaim. Cul de Sac just recently returned
from a successful tour of Europe which included performances
of FW
Murnau’s 1926 classic, "Faust." Yuri will
be performing "Faust" with Cul de Sac this fall
at Hampshire College and Martha’s Vineyard. Check the
shows page for further information.
Since this fall is filled with live soundtracks, we figured
we'd mention another that those of us at Team Lithiq plan
on checking out. The ubiquitous Devil
Music Ensemble will be returning to the Coolidge
to perform their adaptation of Murnau's
"Nosferatu" on October 31st. And last but certainly
not least, the good people at the Boston
Creative Music Alliance have managed to bring creative
music legend Anthony
Braxton to Boston this November! Do not miss!
And finally, we thought we’d add something new to the
Lithiq news update: The Lithiq Top 5. It
could be music, it could be movies, it could be anything.
So without any further ado…The Lithiq Top 5
of October 2005!
